Logos and Branding

The Mandurah Duel
Clients – The Boardwalk & Mandurah Outrigger Canoe Club

I needed to show the ocean waves and the wind in this logo to give an impression of the conditions that would be experienced in the race, combining the waves into the “M” and blowing the tops of the letters I think achieved this with good clarity resulting in a simple but strong mark.

Mt Buller Summer School Logo
Client- Mt Buller Resort

Mt Buller Summer School Logo Bluedge Design Marketing

This was an great job, the brief was to design a logo for Mt Buller Resort’s, Summer School Events program They wanted the design to be influenced by the local wildflowers that grow on the mountain, I choose Everlasting Daisy, but the design had to also incorporate elements of the existing Mt Buller Logo. The Summer School logo came very easily, I first created the simple 5 petal flower element based on the original Mt Buller snowflake element, rotated the flower element to create the daisy and inlayed the snow capped mountain element to finish it off. This design is perfect for the Summer School logo, it’s bright, it looks and feels like summer because it resembles both the daisy and a summers sun.

The font for the Summer School text also had to be light, fun and summery and Coronet fitted this perfectly.

This was one of those designs that just worked right from the start and was meant to be because the client loved it from the first draft with no alterations, and that doesn’t happen every day!

Commelec wanted to modernise their image and branding and create a consistent look across all their collateral. The logo was developed using the C & E letters from the name and overlaying them to create a plug like symbol.

Peel Tourism Logo
CLIENT – Peel Tourism Association

"Peel Tourism Logo" "Bluedge" "Social Media" "Graphic Design"

The logo was needed for the newly formed tourism association that incorporated all the elements of a large and diverse area. I also couldn’t resist the play on the word and incorporating a “Peel” effect into the design.

Logo Design
Client – Hamilton Island Resort & Powerade

A fun challenge to combine the existing brand of Powerade into a new logo for the outrigger canoeing event of the Hamilton Island Cup. The strong colours of the Powerade brand were used with the equally strong silhouette of the padder riding the wave. The branding design was then incorporated into all the event collateral. Powerade were so happy with the result they used the same style and imagery to brand other sporting events they were sponsoring.

Logo Design
Client – Sea Kayaking Whitsdundays

It’s sometimes very hard designing a logo for yourself, but this one was easy. I wanted a logo for my sea kayaking business that captured the area where we were in but was also a little loose and rugged, like the area we were in The aqua blues and greens are a big part of the Whitsundays so were also part of the message. And I didn’t want anything too cliché with a kayak in it.

Logo Design
Client – Hotham Way Committee

The brief was for a logo for a tourist drive that started in the wheat belt and followed the Hotham River down the valley to the coastal plain. The curving line represents the three main elements of the rolling hills, the meandering river and the actual journey or path taken on the Hotham Way. The tag line “Golden Grain to Coastal Plain” was the inspiration for the colours, gradually shifting from the golden grain though the green of the forest and to the blue of the coast. I was happy with the outcome of this design and so was the committee.

Logo Design
Client – Trader Pete – Tropic Isle

I’m a self confessed fan of all things Tiki, must come from my paddling background, so it was fun to incorporate some tiki feeling into this clothing brand logo for a t-shirt and merchandise company.

Logo Design
Client – Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association

The national governing body of outrigger canoe racing in Australia wanted a new logo that was uniquely Australian and one that would clearly identify Australian paddlers when competing at international events. The green and gold was an obvious choice and you can’t say “Aussie paddler” any clearer than a kangaroo with holding a paddle.

Logo Design
Client – Mandurah Outrigger Canoe Club

This was a fun and personal logo design for my own club. We have a lot of friendly dolphins that often surf and play with our canoes when we are training so they had to make up part of the logo. I used a traditional outrigger paddle shape and worked into it two dolphins playing in the waves using a tribal tattoo style. Add some tiki style lettering and club colours and there it is.

Logo Design – WAZA Logo
Client – Western Australian Zone of AOCRA

Another paddling logo, are you noticing a trend! The Western Australian branch of the national body also needed a new logo so I used the acronym as my inspiration. I stylised an Hawaiian rock petroglyph of a paddler and created “WAZA” a very Australian name for an Hawaiian sport, add some tiki lettering with hibiscus print design to finish it off.
